Welcome to Romania!

This is an easy 9 day mountain bike tour meant to help everybody meet the Saxon villages from Transylvania with their fortified churches and historical monuments. We will also get to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites Viscri fortified church and Sighisoara medieval fortress, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Accommodation is provided in boarding houses.

Day 1
Meet at the airport and transfer to Bran Village.
Accommodation: boarding house, Bran.

Day 2
We start biking from Bran to Zarnesti and climb in Magura Village. We visit Magura and Pestera mountain villages right under Piatra Craiului Mountains and return to Bran. At the end of the day we visit Bran Castle.

Day 3
Transfer to Poiana Marului. We bike on the road that leads from Piatra Craiului Mountains to the foothills of Fagaras Mountains, visiting Brancoveanu Monastery from Sambata de Sus.
Distance: 60 km
Elevation: mostly downhill and flat
Difficulty: medium effort
Accommodation: boarding house, Sambata de Sus.

Day 4
From Sambata de Sus we bike to Fagaras. On the way we visit a 100 years old hydraulic machine for tailoring wool and at the end of the day we visit Fagaras medieval fortress.

Elevation: mostly flat
Difficulty: low effort
Accommodation: boarding house, Fagaras.

Day 5
Saxon villages circuit 1: Fagaras – Felmer – Halmeag – Fagaras. On the way we visit the pyramids in Sona.

Elevation: 300m
Difficulty: medium effort
Accommodation: boarding house, Fagaras.

Day 6
From Fagaras we bike to Viscri. This day we will visit the famous fortified church of Viscri, which is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Day 7
Saxon villages circuit 2: Viscri – Mesendorf – Granari – Viscri.
Distance: 30 km
Elevation: 600m
Difficulty: medium effort
Accommodation: boarding house, Viscri.

Day 8
This day we leave Viscri and bike to Sighisoara to see the medieval town and fortress. Transfer to Brasov.
Distance: 45 km
Elevation: 450m
Difficulty: low-medium effort
Accommodation: boarding house, Brasov.

Day 9
Transfer to the airport.
